Parent Seeking Companion Home
|
Wendy Weidenbach
My daughter, Wendy is a 30 year old woman with Down's
Syndrome. She is in need of a Christian caregiver (a single
person, a couple or a family) who can be a loving, devoted,
long term companion to her. The Companion Home
Program is for disabled adults, is modeled after the foster
care program for children, however with two very distinct
differences. A Companion Home is designed to be
long-term and provide a wholesome, stable environment in
which the adult can thrive, and the pay (through the
Division of Developmental Disabilities) is also substantially
more than what foster care provides, whereby the
companion can support themselves adequately in the
comfort of their home or the disabled adult's own home.
Respite (relief) care is also available. In addition to the
support Wendy's family can give with prior arrangement. It
is my prayer that we find a responsible person who has a
mellow, loving, caring personality, who will be able to relate
to Wendy on her level in the next three to four months.
